National Vascular Physicians’ Own Dr. Emmett Lynskey Featured in New York Times Article
February 17, 2025
The January 30, 2026, New York Times featured an article written by Dr. Lisa Sanders. The article highlights two important (but related) health conditions: Pelvic congestion syndrome and nutcracker syndrome, and one woman’s struggle to achieve the correct diagnosis of these conditions and receive the proper treatment.
After a dozen imaging tests and after seeing several specialists—including her OB/GYN, a gastroenterologist, a rheumatologist, a hematologist and a rehabilitation medicine physician—the cause of her constant, pressure-like pain in her spine, pelvis and left flank remained undiagnosed.
Fortunately for the woman, who happens to be a pediatric ophthalmologist, a discussion with Dr. Emmett Lynskey changed everything. As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Emmett Lynskey was able to review her MRI and correctly diagnose her condition. He then recommended her for a minimally invasive treatment.
